How the jackpot odds are calculated
C(50,5) × C(12,2) = 139,838,160. With uniform unordered selections and independent separate pools where applicable, one exact ticket has probability 1/139,838,160. The exact BigInt count matches the reviewed official jackpot denominator.
Static result: 1 in 139,838,160; official match.
Why 12 × 12 would be wrong
The two Euro numbers cannot repeat. Multiplying 12 by 12 includes impossible repeated pairs. Multiplying 12 by 11 counts each permitted pair twice because order does not matter. Dividing that ordered count by two gives C(12,2)=66.
The main set has C(50,5)=2,118,760 possibilities. Pairing it with 66 Euro-number sets gives 139,838,160 possible base tickets. EuroMillions has the same reviewed pool sizes, so its base jackpot denominator is also the same. Equal jackpot odds do not establish equal total payouts, prices, taxes or additional raffle chances.
The German EUR 2 stake excludes handling fees. It should not be shown as a universal final ticket price in a cross-country comparison.
Eurojackpot: the numbers behind the odds
- Ticket format
- 5 of 50 + 2 of 12
- Calculated vs official odds
- Calculated 1 in 139,838,160 (≈ 7.151 × 10^-9). Official 1 in 139,838,160 (Eurojackpot game information, reviewed 2026-10-04). Equal.
- Official odds of any prize
- not established for this game.
- 1,000 distinct tickets
- cover 1,000 of 139,838,160 outcomes (about 1 in 139,838); duplicates add nothing.
- One-number neighbours
- 225 tickets (5 × 45: choose which of your 5 main numbers to replace, and which of the 45 unused numbers replaces it) differ from yours in exactly one main number, other pools unchanged. With yours they cover 226 of 139,838,160 outcomes (about 1 in 618,752). This counts ticket combinations; a different ticket is not a likelier one.
- One fixed ticket, 1,000,000 independent draws
- expected jackpot hits 0.00715 (1,000,000 ÷ 139,838,160); chance of at least one hit 0.713% (1 − (1 − 1/139,838,160)^1,000,000). Exact calculation, not a played or simulated result.
Calculated values assume equally likely combinations, drawing without replacement and independent pools; prizes, taxes, ticket costs and rule changes are not modelled. None of this predicts real draws or recommends buying tickets.

What understanding the odds can and cannot do
Balanced selections, birthdays and past draw frequencies do not improve the jackpot chance of a particular valid ticket. LottoFlick does not predict winning numbers. Use the combination calculator to explore models and the Explorer to compare field scopes.
