How to Check Lottery Rules Before Generating Numbers

A practical checklist for player pools, draw-only bonuses, price scope and official rules before using a lottery number tool.

Start with the game, not a number pattern

A valid line must follow the selected game’s rules. Before generating numbers, identify the operator and jurisdiction, the main number range, how many distinct numbers you select, and whether there is a second player-selected pool. The Lottery Explorer distinguishes reviewed base formats from unverified records. VERIFIED applies to the stated format, not every legal or payout rule.

Read each pool separately

For reviewed US Powerball, select five distinct main numbers from 1–69 and one Powerball from 1–26. A main number and the Powerball may share the same numeric value because they belong to separate pools. For Eurojackpot, the two Euro numbers are distinct choices from one second pool: choosing the same Euro number twice is invalid.

In Lotto 6/45 and Oz Lotto, bonus or supplementary balls are drawn by the operator. They are not extra player selections and do not multiply the jackpot combination count. Compare Powerball’s separate pools with Oz Lotto’s supplementary balls.

Do not apply an old matrix to a current game

Mega Millions now uses a reviewed 5-from-70 plus 1-from-24 matrix. A generator using a Mega Ball range ending at 25 would produce invalid lines. The current matrix explanation shows why changing a range also changes the jackpot denominator. The generator validates its selected format; validation does not predict a draw.

Check costs and real-world participation separately

A published base price can have jurisdiction-specific fees or bundles. A German Eurojackpot stake does not establish the price in every participating country. Currency conversion is not a comparison of expected returns. This site does not sell tickets or decide whether you may legally play. Check the operator’s current purchase, eligibility, deadline and claim instructions; those fields are not comprehensively verified here.

A source-check workflow

  1. Find the named official operator in Sources.
  2. Check which fields were reviewed and the visible review date.
  3. Confirm mutable purchase and claim conditions on the official site.
  4. Use the exact combination calculator to understand the base matrix.
  5. Choose whether to participate within your own limits; generating a line creates no obligation to buy.

The mathematical assumptions are explained in Methodology. Random, balanced, birthday and destiny modes offer different selection experiences, not better winning odds. No pattern, past frequency or paid prediction changes the chance of a specified valid line in a fair draw.
